Pike Place Farmers Market Centennial Celebration
Hyun-Jung Jang's Bio
Hyun-Jung Jang left her family and friends in An-Yang, Korea, a suburb of Soul, knowing less than a dozen English words. The twenty-year old embarked on a two-year personal mission, to learn how to speak the “international language of business” and volunteer her time to people in need. The first couple of months in Calgary, Canada, she required a translator.
“When I was staying with my Canadian host family,” explains Hyun-Jung, “I was asked ‘do you understand?’ All I ‘understood’ was “stand”, so I stood up from my chair.”
In May, Hyun-Jung arrived in Seattle capable of withstanding an English conversation with strangers. While in the Pacific Northwest for the summer, the college journalism student has volunteered at the Food Bank, enrolled in a summer English class and is learning how to produce a multimedia travel blog.
As Hyun-Jung continues her 2007 travels, she will be posting reports from the road.
2007 Travel Schedule:

Hi Hyun-Jung Jang,
I enjoy your videos. I wish I had met you when I was living in Seattle.
I like the way you ask a question and then let the other person answer. Some interviewers interrupt the people they are interviewing---grrrrrr.
I hope you can move to Seattle and cover interesting places like Green Lake and Fremont. I really miss Green Lake and the Library.
Sarang Hae!
Gerard
